Model of Care

What is Direct Primary Care?
Perfect for anyone who wants an intimate relationship with their doctor about their health DPC is a membership-based care model in which patients pay primary care providers a flat, simple, periodic fee directly for unlimited access to primary and preventative services. There's no insurance deductibles or premiums involved, so no surprises. Many DPC clients are those with high deductible plans or no insurance at all. (though we always recommend having at least indemnity plan if you can!).

Why DPC and Holistic Wellness?
We are not willing to compromise on quality of care. This direct care model puts physicians and patients in charge of healthcare decisions. Since we do not have to deal with insurance companies, we can spend more time and effort on your care and keeping you healthy, in whatever form that means for you. Our goal is to provide you the best care at the most affordable price, so we receive substantial discounts for services and medications to save you out of pocket costs. First access to holistic wellness services allows you to experience wellness on a deeper level for a more joyful and truly healthy way of living.

Membership
A monthly membership is only $200 per month. We also can offer a discounted rate of $2,000 for an annual membership, if paid in full. All wellness services are charged separately by the wellness clinicians providing the service, however as a wellness center member you have first access to all services, classes, and workshops.
Insurance
While we do not participate with insurance providers you can use your insurance for labs, medications, and other specialty testing/procedures processed through a third party. In fact, most people save significant money when switching to DPC. Avoiding urgent care centers and prioritizing primary care almost always leads to less medical costs ultimately. Most people find they can now elect to have high deductible insurance plans as all their primary care needs are being met. It’s always a good idea to retain at least an indemnity policy to cover unknown occurrences such as hospitalization or radiology procedures needed.

Medicare
We do not participate in any way with Medicare. This means that Medicare cannot be billed for any services performed.
Cancellation of Membership
Situations change, we get it. Not a problem at all! We just ask you to give us 30 days notice so we can tie up any loose ends and give you a chance to find another doctor. If you pay quarterly or annually, you will be immediately refunded the remaining balance after the 30 day notice, no hard feelings whatsoever.

Frequently Asked Questions
1. What is Direct Primary Care (DPC)?
A membership-based care model in which patients pay primary care providers a flat, simple, periodic fee directly for unlimited access to primary care medical and preventative services. This fee allows the patient to access a variety of services without paying additional fees for preventative and sick visits. There are no insurance deductibles or premiums involved, so no surprises.
2. What are the benefits of DPC?
We are not willing to compromise on the quality of care. This direct care model puts physicians and patients in charge of healthcare decisions. Since we do not have to deal with insurance companies, we can spend more time and effort on your care and keeping you healthy, in whatever form that means for you. Our goal is to provide you the best care, with improved access to our providers at the most affordable price, so we receive substantial discounts for services and medications to save you out-of-pocket costs. First access to holistic wellness services allows you to experience wellness on a deeper level for a more joyful and truly healthy way of living.
3. How much does the membership cost?
A monthly membership is $200 per month. We offer a discounted rate of $2,000 for an annual membership if paid in full. The membership is a self-pay option. All wellness services are charged separately by the wellness clinicians providing the service, however, as a wellness center member, you have first access to all services, classes, and workshops.
4. What is included? What is not included?
Our fee is an all-inclusive price for preventative/ annual exams and sick visits, along with supplies and procedures are done during those exams, excluding vaccines
5. Do you take insurance?
We do not bill insurance, but you can still join our practice if you have it. This allows us to keep the pricing of our services simple and transparent to our members – no network, co-pay, pre-auths, denials, deductibles, restrictions, or codes. You can still use your insurance for other medical practices, pharmacies, and hospital visits. You can also use insurance for your labs, imaging, and medications as well. However, we are able to negotiate directly with many vendors from these companies to offer discounted rates on these services to our members. Some patients prefer not to bill their insurance for these as a result.
Health insurance is not health care, and DPC is the latter. 80-90% of your health care needs can be managed by a Primary Care Physician (PCP), but it’s a good idea to have coverage for major events like hospital visits, surgeries, etc. – whether that is traditional insurance or an alternative like medical cost sharing. Insurance may actually make primary care more expensive.
7. Can I use HSA and/or FSA money to pay for my visit?
DirectMed DPC accepts HSA and FSA funds as a form of payment, however, it is the responsibility of the patient to ensure eligibility of use in accordance with IRS guidelines.
8. What if I have Medicare?
We do not participate in any way with Medicare. This means that Medicare cannot be billed for any services performed.
9. Can I cancel my membership?
Situations change, we get it. Not a problem at all. We just ask you to give us 30 days' notice so we can tie up any loose ends and give you a chance to find another doctor.
10. What are the benefits of DPC vs. traditional primary care?
Access, simplicity, transparency, quality. Think of DPC as having a true partner in your health journey. Anytime you need access or even have a quick question, you can very easily come in person, do a virtual visit, call us, email us, and yes, even text us at any time. Because we have a direct relationship, without insurance companies or other third parties between us, our service and pricing is simple. No surprise bills, or codes and charges you don’t understand. This enables us to be 100% transparent. Our incentives are aligned so that we are thinking about tests and referrals. And we finally have time together. No more 5-minute visits where the doctor barely knows your name and rushes you out. High-quality care means spending time with patients to more thoroughly listen and learn about their health and goals.
Why Businesses should buy DPC for employees?
One of the hardest things for employers is dealing with illness and employees being out.
I think post-covid all CEOs can relate! First of all, it's the right thing to do to make sure your beloved employees are taken care of in terms of their health-- both physical and emotional.
And it goes without saying that having a place where all their primary care needs are met is so comforting for both employees and employers alike.
For $2000 per year per employee, you are guaranteeing that your employees have a place to come for that morning sore throat they want to make sure isn't strep, et cetera.
Switch to high-deductible plans and save your company money. Or for those who aren't currently able to offer health insurance for their employers (too expensive for many companies, we know) at least know their primary care needs are being met.
Multiple studies have demonstrated that investing in primary care and wellness increases company revenue by increasing productivity and satisfaction at the workplace. This is also an awesome benefit to lure those top executives-- everyone hates having to find a new doctor. Why not provide them with a physician and center they will cherish?
